Birmingham Residence Published in Casa Vogue
A single father, of eclectic taste and a collector of art and industrial objects from past decades. This is the profile of the client who hired the design office Mcintosh Poris to update a traditional house located in the Birmingham area of the Detroit metropolitan region, Michigan. ‘The client’s mother feared that her grandson might get hurt due to her son’s preference for these heavier objects,’ said architect Michael Poris. ‘We needed to find a way to soften that aspect,’ he continued. It was then that the specialist in balancing the new with the old decided to incorporate into the project industrial designers with special talents for the reappropriation of objects. With this strengthened team, the final result would undoubtedly be quite original.
