Greektown reveals results of strategic framework and vision to inspire and guide neighborhood forward
The Greektown Neighborhood Partnership recently announced a new Framework Vision plan for this important area of Detroit. McIntosh Poris Associates, was the local advisor to SOM, working on community engagement and creation of the plan. The architecture and urban design firm also provided history and background, as well as created retail guidelines for the district.
“Having worked for more than 20 years with some of Greektown’s stakeholders, McIntosh Poris Associates was in the optimal place to help ensure they felt represented, and to help create a plan with strong community support. As the surrounding neighborhoods have revived, Greektown’s role as the downtown entertainment center waned. We aim to build it back up as a mixed-use destination that supports entertainment and retail in addition to housing for a fully functioning neighborhood”, says principal Michael Poris, AIA.
