Industrial heritage and rural landscape: two residential models in Michigan

The adaptive reuse of an automotive factory and a new rural home – two projects that reinterpret original materials and features through contemporary, context-sensitive architecture. McIntosh Poris Architects has applied the same design methodology to the adaptive reuse of a historic automotive plant in Detroit and the creation of a new rural residence in Ann Arbor. With both projects, the firm has reinterpreted context through contemporary architecture, honoring original site features while meeting new functional demands. In both designs, materials, clean geometries, and contextual integration have produced functional, personal spaces where past and present naturally interact.
