Comos

CLIENT: Peas and Carrots
LOCATION: Ferndale, MI
YEAR: 2018-2019

The owner hired MPA to engage the community of Ferndale and to activate the corner of 9 Mile Rd. and Woodward which had been defunct for so long. MPA renovated and designed the 15,000 sf restaurant/bar/patio fitting for the current neighborhood and clientele of Ferndale. This effort consisted of the design and development of new floor plan layouts, indoor and outdoor furniture selections, finishes for storefront, dining room, indoor and outdoor bars, seating (millwork), restrooms, as well as second floor conference room and offices.

The design concept was to keep Como’s a neighborhood pizza joint reminiscent of old New York establishments combined with Detroit’s reputation for some of the country’s best offerings – and known for the square deep dish Detroit style pies. We kept it familiar, yet completely reimagined by being thoughtful in the design, but not overdesigned. The overall effect is a comfortable, inviting, inclusive and fun environment with good food, beer and company.
