Collaborating with HopCat, a top three brewpub in the United States according to multiple brewing publications, McIntosh Poris renovated a historic building to create a two-level food and bar destination at the corner of Woodward and Canfield in Midtown Detroit. The building, which was originally built in the 1920’s, was planned in a way that offered two different experiences. The ground level was designed as a more social bar space conjuring the mood of a local hangout featuring a 40-person bar and a keg storage behind bar with windows to put the 130-kegs of different beers on tap on display. The second level was designed in a much more flexible manner that serves as an event space equipped with a stage and light show to accommodate live music, private parties, sporting events, etc. The second level also contains an outdoor terrace above the new addition on the west side of the building. This outdoor terrace offers views down Woodward and into downtown.
