The Park Shelton

CLIENT: The Park Shelton
LOCATION: Detroit, MI
YEAR: 2004-2006

The $15 million renovation of the 12-story, 220-unit Park Shelton, owned by Arco and managed by Brian Giles and The Berger Group, included the renovation, reconfiguration and upgrade of the entire building for a condo conversion, the interior design of the units, the building’s sales office, lobby, reception areas and corridors; improvements to the retail storefronts; the redesign of a rooftop, recreation and exercise room; and the construction of an adjacent, new parking garage to replace the existing 2-story facility.

The units, which include studio, one-bedroom, and two-bedroom condominiums, capture the timeless, romantic character the building radiated when it was constructed in 1926 as the Wardell Hotel. The architects reconfigured and refurbished the units to accommodate new mechanical systems. Modern amenities such as new bathrooms, in unit washer/dryer, stainless steel kitchen appliances, and wood cabinetry have been seamlessly integrated with the historic building.
