Seven70/Birmingham Pointe

LOCATION: Birmingam, MI
YEAR: 2019-2025

MPA was a design consultant for this project, working with Christopher Longe, AIA. The development, located in Birmingham’s Triangle District, is a model for increasing density and walkability outside of the downtown district, while simultaneously beingsensitive to the low rise fabric that surrounds it.

The expansive building fronts three streets- Adams, Haynes, and Worth as well as a public alley, establishing a presence in the neighborhood. The Adams facade, with its bay windows, terraced facade, and balconies, creates a human scale to the development and transitions nicely into the adjacent single-family neighborhood development. The building increases in height towards the Woodward corridor. A central court and rooftop terrace create desirable views and amenity spaces.

The ground floor activates the neighborhood with a restaurant space anchoring the corner of Worth and Haynes and residential amenity spaces fronting Worth and Adams Street. Walk-up units line Adams and Haynes Street, adding warmth and character to the street.

The choice in materials- expansive glazing, brick, metal, fiber cement, and wood- compliments the Triangle District’s existing buildings and character while also providing a fresh look to the neighborhood.
