64 Watson

CLIENT: Devon Renewal LLC
LOCATION: Detroit, MI
YEAR: 2016-2018

McIntosh Poris Architects designed this 5-unit condominium development in Brush Park to pay homage to the site's history. Designed to replicate the original Devon Building, an art deco hotel constructed at the turn of the nineteenth century, the building maintains the scale, charm and character that once stood.

Units consist of two garden-level flats, three upper-level flats, and a two-level penthouse with its own elevator and rooftop terrace, taking full advantage of the views in Brush Park and downtown.

The interior is elegant and modern, both complementing and contrasting the historic masonry exterior. Expansive glazing offers light and bright interiors while maintaining energy efficiency with triple-pane windows.

Private garden space and large balconies on the rear offer outdoor living with views of downtown. A common backyard separates the building from the parking garage accessed from the alley, with vegetation buffering the two structures. 64 Watson is a boutique development that prioritizes open space, livability, and historic character.
